When long term care becomes necessary, depending on the care that is needed, any or all of the following three steps (Assessment, Consultation, and Placement) may be involved in providing for the best care outcome. In the best place to call home As closely as possible, our intention is to always locate the best place possible that is not only equipped to take care of your needs, but one that would also be a good fit for both you and the home. For instance, if your needs are related to a physical limitation, such as being non-ambulatory, we would not look to have you select a home that specializes in caring for residents suffering with Alzheimer's Disease. And always remember, the final choice is yours to make. We generally select three homes to visit that are well suited to your special needs; whereby we will tour the homes with you and the facility managers. We always encourage you to ask any and all questions that you may have, and we will be there to ask the questions that you may forget to ask. We understand the difficulty in making these decisions and we will be there to support and assist you. There are several reasons why we generally only show three homes per session. First off, once the visits are over, it becomes easy to confuse the homes when too many are visited. Secondly, the process of visiting the homes can be an emotionally wearing experience (especially if you are looking to place mom or dad). And third, in determining which homes are well suited to care for your special needs, we have already matched the potential homes with your needs; therefore, more often then not, one of the initial three homes will stand out and be selected by you. But if none of the homes seem to be a good fit, we will be happy to continue on and to show you a couple of more homes. Also, earlier we mentioned that our intentions are to match you up with the best place possible, as opposed to an assisted living home. Part of our assessment is to determine if your needs would best be met in a home or in one of the large assisted living communities. We are always prepared to present assisted living communities when applicable. |
